Guilherme Pedra is an award-winning filmmaker (writer, director, editor), photographer and visual artist who was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, where he currently resides. He moved to New York in the summer of 2016 to pursue his BFA in Film and Television Production at NYU Tisch School of the Arts as a transfer student, graduating with a double minor in Art History and Studio Art.

Guilherme has always been passionate about art and considers expressing himself a primordial need, regardless of the medium. His interest and love for the arts as a means to self-expression began at a very early age, with a portfolio dating back to 2002 (when he was six years old). In his films, Guilherme tends to craft personal and poetic stories, with sensitive issues and introspective characters. He believes his interdisciplinary skill set allows him to have a deeper understanding and appreciation of the powerful, transformative art form that is Cinema.

He has directed a number of short films, including Elsewhere — A Flor Azul (2018), which was selected at the 2018 Cannes Short Film Corner and won accolades from the American Student Film Festival and the Brazil International Film Festival, in Teresópolis, and I am Love (2021), which was an official selection at the Academy Award qualifying Raindance Film Festival. His photographic work has been featured in an exhibition in Soho, in late 2017, titled Brazilian Photographers in NYC.

Guilherme graduated in May 2019 with the highest of honors (Summa Cum Laude) and is currently working as a freelance filmmaker, screenwriter, photographer and visual artist in São Paulo. He also graduated in April 2023 from the 2-year specialization program (lato sensu) in Screenwriting at FAAP (Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado), in which he developed an 8 episode dramedy series as his thesis. In May 2022, he attended the Cannes Film Festival to work as an intern during the Marché du Film for XYZ Films, where he also worked as a Content/Development Intern in the following semester. Guilherme loves to travel and is crazy about art museums, dogs and the sea!
